Roland Hecht, Ph.D. – Vice President, Business Development
Having joined CMC Biologics in 2010, Roland Hecht, Ph.D., is responsible for business development in Europe and Asia. He brings to the company more than 17 years of experience in areas such as management, business development, and sales in the biopharmaceutical and life science research industries. Before joining CMC Biologics, he was senior director of international sales at Rentschler Biotechnologie. Prior experience includes Elchrom Scientific, Excell Biotech, Q-Biogene, and Stratagene (now an Agilent Technologies company). Roland received a Master of Science degree in Biology from the Technical University of Kaiserslatuern and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Homburg. He also completed a three-year Master of Business Administration education concurrent with his Ph.D.
Tony Jørgensen, Ph.D. – Vice President, Quality
As Vice President, Quality, Tony Jørgensen, Ph.D., is responsible for quality assurance and quality control at the Copenhagen facility. He has more than 20 years of experience in process and analytical development and in quality assurance and regulatory affairs management in the biopharmaceutical industry. Prior to CMC Biologics, Tony was employed at Novo Nordisk and Genmab. He also has served a number of years as a Qualified Person (QP). He has a Master of Science degree in Chemistry and Biology and Industrial Researcher Ph.D. from Aahus University.
Niels Trolle Ørberg – Vice President, Human Resources
Niels Trolle Ørberg joined CMC Biologics in Copenhagen in 2004 and has overall responsibilities for human resources at our Copenhagen location. Prior to CMC Biologics, he spent 17 years in the medical device industry, holding various manufacturing, product and process development, and quality assurance management positions before specializing in human resources. Niels holds diplomas in Executive Coaching and in Human Resource and Organization Development as well as a higher national diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Anders Pedersen – Sr. Vice President, Development
Anders Pedersen joined CMC Biologics in 2010 as senior vice president of development. In this position he is responsible for all process development activities in the Copenhagen facility. Anders has more than 25 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. His background experience is in process development and discovery of biopharmaceuticals. Prior to CMC Biologics, he spent 13 years at Novo Nordisk. He was a cofounder of ProFound Pharma, which was later acquired by Maxygen. He also served as vice president of project and portfolio management at Life Cycle Pharma. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Danish Technical University in Copenhagen.
Jens Velling – Site Head
Jens Velling joined CMC Biologics in June 2011. In his position as general manager of the Copenhagen facility, Jens is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the site. Jens has more than 19 years experience in operations and product supply management. Most recently, he spent seven years in operations and factory management in the health/nutrition and food divisions at Chr. Hansen. Prior to Chr. Hansen, Jens was at Syntese, Polypeptide Laboratories, and Peptech. He also spent seven years as a research chemist at Carlbiotech and Carlsberg Research Center. Jens received a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the Technical University of Denmark and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Copenhagen Business School. He also serves on the advisory board for the Confederation of Danish Industry.
Peter Vilby – Senior Vice President, Engineering and Operations Support
A cofounder of the company, Peter Vilby currently serves as senior vice president, engineering and operations support. He has more than 15 years of experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Before CMC Biologics, Peter worked at Novozymes. He has a Master of Science degree in Engineering Science from the Danish Technical University.
David A. Wolton – Vice President, Manufacturing
Having joined CMC Biologics in 2009, David A. Wolton holds the position of vice president, manufacturing and is responsible for microbial and mammalian production at the Copenhagen facility. With more than 25 years of experience in biopharmaceutical manufacture, David was previously employed at Wyeth (now Pfizer), Elan, and Lonza. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Microbiology from Dundee University.
